The numbered streets do make it easier. South Central is a piece of cake compared to La Mirada or Lynwood. Look at a Thomas Brothers map book sometime and check out South Gate.
Heli-Tender

In the early 70's we had a heli tender at Station 47 and we covered everything from Glendale to Claremont. Anytime a brush fire broke out anywhere along the mountains or in the greater L.A. basin (Whittier hills or Palos Verdes peninsula) they would call for Tender 47. I enjoyed that assignment. It was fun to get out of the station and to assist other agencies as well.

MA135 appears to be the exact make and model of van ambulance that I drove way back in 1983. The thought that the same hardware is still functioning in frontline service is astounding.

That type of Ford van was hard to keep in running condition THEN. OMG what it must take to keep it held together now
